A Night in the Woods

Your friend dared you to spend a night in the eerie, shadowy woods. As darkness falls and the campfire flickers, you're not alone; the spiders begin to descend, hungry for an easy meal. Can you survive the night?

Instructions

  • Move: Use WASD, Arrow Keys, or a Gamepad
  • Kick: Press Enter, Mouse Button, or Gamepad Fire
  • Survive: Avoid touching spiders as instant death awaits! Kick them enough times to defeat them, but beware: even a single touch of a dead spider is still fatal.
  • Campfire: The fire slowly fades, so last as long as possible before darkness consumes you.
  • Development

After a break from coding, getting back into development was a challenge. I reused some assets from previous game jams while creating new animations, including Death and Kick.

    Future Potential

I'd love to expand the game with:

    • Collecting firewood to keep the campfire burning
    • Improved animations and lighting effects
    • Wolves around the edges to prevent escaping the map
    • More variety of enemies for added challenge
    • A health bar instead of instant death
    • Spiders shooting webs to slow the player

Thank you for playing! Constructive feedback is always welcome. Enjoy your night in the woods... if you dare.

Once I realised I could kick these spiders Into the fire to defeat them, it was over for them.

Nice little game, I can see that you intended the kicking to be used to attack the spiders, but I found it most fun when I realised I could push back the spiders into the fire, and I thought I could kick some firewood into the fire to keep it going and was disappointed when I realised you couldn't.

    Thank you for your feedback.

I so wanted to have the player the kick spiders through the fire to burn them, but it would taken extra time to develop, like may other idea I wish I could add.
