Finding E.T the Video Game

The only thing that is less fun than playing an E.T. arcade game is digging up a copy of the Game to play.

Instructions

use arrow keys or WASD to move about. Find patches of dirt to dig to find the game using the space key.  Once you have collected the game, head home to play it.

Avoid park rangers who will throw you in a cave, who knows why and bears that will kill you.

There is at least one Achievement to find.

Development

The parody homage to the infamous landfill game of the century.  The theme for Trijam 254 was "Least fun thing to do". My idea was the least fun thing to do was to have a game where you had to dig up a copy of the 1984 E.T atari game to take home and play.

The 8-bit graphic is deliberately poor; the movement has been slowed down to an unfun level, and the music is so annoying I had to put mute for it (press m to mute it).

Bugs

  • I never got time to get swimming right. It has been improved, but swimming is buggy.
  • The bear is a bit lazy and won't chase you.
  • I wanted the player to fall into the cave, but again, this was cut for time.
